About
The Author
From an
early age, Bailly Shannon Morse had been a storyteller. Although her made up fairy tales and creative if fantastical stories
always brought a smile to her family, she never considered herself a writer, preferring to follow other pursuits. An avid
reader and admirer of history, Morse was constantly bombarded by new ideas for stories, and it was in sixth grade that she
finally broke out of her shell and finished her first piece of writing, a short play written for a performance by her classmates.
This initial endeavor in writing inspired Morse to keep writing throughout
the summer. She completed another play titled The Music Box, a time traveling romp involving a pair of unsuspecting siblings
who enter the world of medieval England. This was followed by a series of three short stories, which included characters based
on her great-grandmother and her family. The adventure/romance series was set in the 1890s, and spanned from Nevada to New
England.
It was during the summer between eighth
and ninth grade, in a sixth month period, that she completed her first novel at age 14. This manuscript was called Fortune's Flight, and in the summer of 2006 she self-published her book as a trade paperback,
with Morse's own twenty-six illustrations throughout the pages. Her own painting of the three main characters entices the
reader from the cover.
Bailly Morse, age 18, has completed
her second novel, a companion to Fortune's Flight called Renegade Ransom, that is now available. She is currently at work
on several other ongoing projects. These projects include a new novel, titled Violet, and a third play, which
is a spin off on the classic tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.
